By severing a 1973 first edition of Le plaisir du texte by Barthes and binding the detached pages, the resulting companion editions require two hands to read, activating both the text and the reader in unique and unexpected ways. The project considers the materiality of the book in the context of Barthes’ notion of different types of readership.
